Blessing of the Expectant Parents
The Church provides a special blessing for expectant parents. We would be happy to bless you during your pregnancy. Please call the Parish Office at (513) 871-5757 to arrange for this.
Baptism
Infant Baptism: The Church defines an infant as one who has not yet reached the age of reason, usually under the age of 7. If you would like to have your baby or toddler Baptized, please call the rectory to make arrangements. We like to meet with couples before the Baptism to go over the ceremony and to explain what Baptism is and the responsibilities the parents are taking on in having their child baptized. We have sessions the second Sunday of each month at noon in the Parish Center.
We usually have baptisms at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday or during Mass. We try to be flexible to allow families to schedule at their convenience. If you would like to have your child baptized at another parish, we will give you a letter of permission after completing the preparations mentioned above. If you do not belong to our parish, we are open to baptizing your child with your pastor's permission.
Adult Baptism: Please check the RCIA Section for information.
Confirmation
We have two excellent programs of religious education for our children. Both our school and our PREP program offer a guided path for our young people. As a part of this path, usually at the Junior High level, we offer the Sacrament of Confirmation. We urge parents to make sure their child is enrolled in one of our religious education programs throughout childhood. By doing so, you will ensure that your child is a fully initiated member of the Catholic Church.
If you are an adult who has not yet been confirmed, please call the Parish Office at (513) 871-5757 so we can help you schedule the necessary preparation.
Marriage
So you're engaged . . . Congratulations . . . You have decided to marry and commit yourselves to a lifetime of mutual love, learning and discovery. There is more to getting married than choosing a caterer and finding the perfect wedding dress. Marriage is one of the most life-changing and serious commitments you will ever make. We at St. Cecilia, commit ourselves to helping engaged couples enter into a marriage that gives promise of being grace-filled, happy and successful. Visit our Marriage page for all the information you will need.
Holy Orders
Those seeking ordination to the priesthood or diaconate are welcome and needed. If you feel that God is calling you to this ministry, please call the rectory and we will direct you toward the appropriate diocesan resources.
Sacrament of the Sick
The Sacrament of the Sick is for those of advanced age, those with a serious illness, or those facing serious surgery. Each year in November, we anoint those who ask for this sacrament. At any time, we will give the sacrament to those who are in need. Please call the rectory. You might want to arrange it so that family members can be present when the sacrament is given.
Please also call us when someone is in the process of dying. The last sacrament one should receive is Viaticum, which is Holy Communion given to the dying. Even if the person cannot receive Communion, we want to be with you in this difficult time and pray with you. Please call the rectory whenever there is a need. We also like to see that those who can no longer attend church receive Communion weekly or monthly. Please call the Parish Office at (513) 871-5757 to make convenient arrangements.
RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which someone who has reached the age of reason enters the Catholic Church. We begin the process in the fall of each year and continue through May. At the Easter Vigil Mass we bring in those who are ready for this commitment. We have separate groups and of adults and children preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. If you are interested, please call the Parish Office at (513) 871-5757 or visit the RCIA page.
