What is RCIA/RCIC?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) or Children (RCIA) is the Church's ritual process for calling adults and children (ages 7 and older) to a conversion of mind and heart. Every year adults and children are welcomed into the Catholic community through the RCIA process. RCIA/RCIC is a process of seeking out, encouraging and walking with those who desire to learn more about the Catholic faith. It is a process that prepares someone for a full and active life in the Church, as well as, equips them to be disciples of Jesus.
During the RCIA process adults and children participate in several classes and liturgical rites (that mark the progress of their journey) to form them more deeply by God's grace. The culmination of that ritual process happens at the Easter Vigil where one is fully initiated into the Catholic Church by celebrating one or all of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.
